The Islamic Republic was the front-runner in erasing Iranian identity. In the chain of globalism, no one worked harder to strip "nationhood" of meaning than the regime in Tehran. They opposed the very idea of being Iranian — and still do. Now they parade Arash the Archer and national myths. But for 27 years living in Iran, I never once heard this language from them. They attacked Persian words. They attacked the Shahnameh itself: "It has 'Shah' in the name — why should it be taught?" The result? Chants of "Javid Shah" now echo where the regime least expects it — inside state-run mosques, in front of the police, in the heart of Iranian cities.
