Every Iranian generation had a "first priority" — today it's called regime change. 1906 Constitutional Revolution: rule of law, limiting the Qajar shahs. Reza Shah: ending insecurity, chaos and famine — people welcomed that order. Mossadegh: nationalizing oil. 1979: clerics promised a "government of divine justice," a paradise on earth — and delivered the hell we live in today. 1997: reform. Millions voted, not only reformists, but anyone who wanted change. Reform went nowhere. Since 2017, the first priority of Iranians is no longer reform — it is bringing this system down. That is the conclusion of a century of trial and error, not a slogan.
