"Money from Iran. Weapons from Iran. Sanctions for Iran. Dead bodies for Iran. And in the end — humiliation for Iran too."
One sentence that sums up four decades of foreign policy.
For years they said: if we don't fight in Baghdad, Damascus, Beirut and Sanaa, we'll have to fight in Tehran. They fought in all of those cities — and still brought the war home to Tehran.
Syria lost. The proxy network worn down. Iraq moving to disarm its aligned militias. All that remains of the imagined empire: a few posters, and commanders who rebrand every retreat as a "strategic victory."
The conclusion: the Islamic Republic is not merely incompetent and repressive — it is the greatest existential threat to Iran itself. Because for this regime, Iran was never the goal. Iran was the instrument.
