Yahya Rahim Safavi commanded the IRGC for a decade, placed Qasem Soleimani at the head of the Quds Force, and has sat at the Supreme Leader's side as senior military adviser since 2007. Through Iran's 2026 war he was the regime's loudest silence: one televised interview in the succession week, then four months with no verified appearance and no place on any casualty list, while the US Rewards for Justice posted $10 million for information on him and the Leader's inner circle, per Iran International. That same February, per Iran International, his daughter held Australian residency while her father advised the war. On 4 July, per Iranian state media, he resurfaced beside Khamenei's coffin: conceding some 4,000 war dead, more than 200 of them commanders and officials, and voicing hope that "Ayatollah" Mojtaba continues his father's path.
