The courtier outlived the court. Ali Akbar Velayati, foreign minister at 36 and the Leader's international-affairs adviser since 1997, survived the 28 February strike that killed the man he counseled; by April he was back, telling WANA the era of Western-imposed security is over, and by summer state media styled him adviser to Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, a master nobody has seen. His signature policy did not survive with him: Assad's December 2024 flight broke the Syria golden ring he spent a decade defending. Argentina is not finished either: per UPI, a federal judge ordered him tried in absentia for the 1994 AMIA bombing, in the same case as IRGC chief Vahidi. Two wanted men in one court; one of them still owns the microphone in Tehran.
